Mike Kiy - Webmaster Walking Rugby

I am Mike Kiy, 'Us' at the moment, is mainly 'me', I am just another rugby volunteer having some fun, I am not affiliated with any governing body.

I am involved in the walking rugby community in Surrey in South-East England as a walking rugby referee and festival organiser; once my new knee is properly up to strength again I will be back playing as well.

Whilst organising a festival I came across the hard work done by Declan Armstrong at Bristol Bears - his spreadsheet of clubs inspired me to build a shared resource which we could all use, update and expand.

I was then introduced to the 'guidelines' at a referee seminar run by Ian McKie at Guildfordian RFC; I know that many of you across the South of England were involved in drawing these together and my intention is they will be updated as they are further developed.

Spreading the word - Clubs and Festivals

I hope you will all now be able to use the assembled data of clubs and festivals to keep spreading the word and involving more people in the game we all enjoy so much.

Please use the 'Walking Rugby Clubs' form to let us know of new clubs that you are involved with or come across and please use the 'Festival Details' form so we can get a proper list of the festivals being organised.  A list of what's going on where is so helpful when you're planning these events and helps attract travelling teams.

Talking of travelling, I am concious that there is a 'southern' bias to the clubs on here; quite a lot in southern England, a few more in Wales, not many in Scotland and one a piece in France and Belgium.  We all need contacts for touring so let's get building this list!

Whatever happens in the future we will still need to know where our friends are so we can go round to their place and have some fun; in the meantime I am going to let others worry about what game someone else thinks we should be playing and concentrate on facilitating the game we are playing now.
